fishing date

I realize fishing isn’t for everyone.

I don’t actually love it.

She has lots of great memories fishing with her dad as a kid, so I was thinking it would be great to put together a date that brought her back to her roots! I may not love fishing, but I do love boats. Found a very low cost boat rental for the day. We started this date early, maybe 4pm? I left the office early so we could get out on the water!

Fun fact–a minivan is big enough to tow some fishing boats.

We drove around the river a bit to enjoy the wind, then found a good spot and dropped a line. We were fishing for catfish because they’re fighters and they’re not complicated. Just used hot dogs as bait, and dropped a line in deep water.

She pulled one in almost immediately! Seeing your wife grin like that? Makes it all worth it.

Total cost:

  • Boat Rental: $180
  • Boat Gas: $12.73
  • Fishing Gear we already owned
  • Hot dogs as bait: $0.89
  • Boat was a 48 hour rental, so we took the kids out the next day

What dates have you done that really connect with your past? We’d love to know in the comments!
