November Date Night

She wasn’t feeling well this week
It’s cold and flu season. Michelle got something nasty, and declared “I’m not going out!”
Between kids sports, work, and other commitments, I feel like we barely see each other. I wasn’t about to miss date night, so we planned a cozy stay home chill out date.
I made dinner for the whole family, just a quick pasta and sauce. Once we ate, Michelle went up to prep the bedroom and I ran off to the gas station to get some candy for date night. This is one of the times that I apply my basic rule, that anything can be a date if you do something special.
The Setup

Grabbing some candy is a quick and easy way to make a Netflix night into a date night. The candy itself doesn’t matter much, but it’s a treat and it’s unusual, and that makes the night a little special.
Also, I’m a candy fiend, and I don’t allow myself candy every night, just for special occasions. I have my favorites, but I always try to shop for what she’ll appreciate most. Otherwise I end up eating it all and she doesn’t get any.
We decided to watch one of our favorites, Crazy Rich Asians. We like to talk about the relationship dynamics that are playing out between all of the characters on the show. Honestly, I never thought I could enjoy a romantic comedy, but over time I’ve learned to appreciate the relationship dynamics.
Michelle has opinions on what the characters say and do, and we talk about what we think is going on, what could have led a person to think or act that way. Sort of psychoanalyzing everything going on.
Michelle put on her footed pjs. Very comfy, very cozy. Healing in a way few jammies could be. I don’t have footed pjs, so I had to make due with a t-shirt and flannel pants.
